Not to start a "other" board bashing thread, but how LGBT friendly are the other boards at members here hangout on? Doesn't have to a gun board just the boards that you like. Are you out on that board or not?
Myself I hangout on AR15.com most of the time, but showup on knifeforums and glocktalk. And I'm out on ARFCOM [oh boy am I] it's a great board and most of the people are LGBT friendly.....but you will have to fight it out witha few of them if you jump into a GAY topic.

And I'm out on ARFCOM [oh boy am I] it's a great board and most of the people are LGBT friendly.....but you will have to fight it out witha few of them if you jump into a GAY topic. Well, here's the thiing. "For instance" The Firing Line. I like the place, but as with all straight boards you WILL get at least a few asshat homophobes. It was bad enough, apparently, that TFL "mods" decided to shut the topic of THIS BOARD down because of all the violations of their COC. That was in less than 2 pages. I'm not certain what to do now, because, IMO it was JUST getting to the point where I could "jump in" answer some Q's/concerns and MAYBE open a few minds.... This is one thing I like about ARFCOM, one can get more than a tad "rough" and the mods don't seem to interfere, unless it's gone FAR past "acceptable behavior". Or unless someone "complains" about conduct that violates COC. I REALLY LIKE that. I, however realize I have a "thick skin" but, IMO we (gays) have a BETTER chance getting through to people if we CAN have a few "knock down, drag out" verbal "fights" every now and again. Makes the bullies a bit more "leery" of GLBT folk, and as long as it is handled appropriately, gains a sort of respect for at least SOME GLBT folk who "fight back fair". However I DO see WHY places like Glock Talk, The Firing Line, etc... shut down volitile topics. They don't want to be "known" for condoning verbal "gay bashing", I just like as long as it doesn't get REAL bad (and Mac came CLOSE last "tiff" we had) but I was able to "spank" him good, and he had enough "sense" to STPU. ;D I mean if I cannot defend myself I probably should't be "out there" so much. Problem is, places like DU (Democratic Underground) and the like criticise US (gays w/guns in general, Pink Pistols in particular) for "allowing" alleged redneck morons on gun boards to "run amuck" verbally bashing GLBTs. When they OBVIOUSLY have NOT been to GLBT topics on ARFCOM! `Cause, IMO, Stoner and I do a pretty good job spanking the phobes there! I really LIKE the High Road, but am not able to visit there often :/ And they allow for virtually NO "fights". Me, I like a good fight now and again. I WAS pretty "raw" from other events in my life, and not coping as well as I would have liked a month ago, but I'm all better now and rearing to go! I'm out on EVERY board as I am the defacto "leader" of the Central Ohio Pink Pistols .... usually that is NOT the "course" I prefer to take... but it IS another "new experience" and I like it. So, why not? I used to like getting to know someone then "springing" that I'm a lesbian on them, usually after they give me an "opening" But full disclosure from the start is fun too.

Kacer, Give me some more information on TFL and their shutdown of the topic. I need to remember (okay, have my pw sent to me) again since I emptied out the cookies on my computer when I went to XP. I'll talk to Rich personally on the matter. As for how tolerate some boards are, they are "tolerate" but they aren't. They say they are but if you joke about "sex" that is even mildly gay then they have a problem with it. But if you talk about big breasted women (most are men on the boards) and what you would dream about then that is okay in their eyes . Wayne

Well, the Firing Line link is: Firing LineIt went 2 pages, and Tamara, Staff appears to be the one who shut it down. I GET why. It would have been a PITA to modify all of the a##hat comments. BUT, IMO, anyway, there was enough GOOD comments occurring to warrant the work. Plus, like I said, I LIKE TFL... I just like "knock-down, drag outs" especially if they can be kept civil. And, IMO, TFL doesn't abide by KDDO's. Their perrogative, I just don't much hang there as a result. Let me know if you need anything else.

Well, they seem to be coming out of the woodwork on THR now. I think I'd best be quiet over there or I'll end up getting the thread locked.
Believe it or not, I sometimes have a hard time keeping my attitude in check. ;D

THR's rule is that civility is mandatory and that when things start to drift off of guns and self defense rights being the central issue the thread often gets shifted to Roundtable as long as it's still marginally civil. Should it degrade into name calling or race/sex/perference/nationality bashing it gets closed. The mods moved the GWG thread to Roundtable to allow the conversation to continue even though it had drifted off of GWG.
BTW I hope ya'll do well over here.

At least I am still able to communicate adequately through a keyboard (talking is a most difficult challenge!). . .
I speak my peace, and then have to take a break to unwind.

It aways amazes me when people say that there is no reason for a board like this. But then complain about gays being antigun.

Rage Against Vanilla Trisha Yeah, but you know what they say.... PDNFOTTSBP "Please Do Not Feed Or Tease The Straight Bigoted People" ;D And those "big words" Trish! But see, I can't smack `em around on THR.... That's the ONLY thing I don't like about the place. I don't wanna get banned or whatever, but if someone smacks me in the face, I SHOULD, IMO, be "allowed" to punch _them_ in the face. And a couple of those guiys, IMO, needed at LEAST a good smack. You did pretty well, IMO< BUT I'm not certain that their IQ is up to figuring that out is all .
