Egyptians decry 'gay' U.S. abusers in IraqPatrick Letellier, PlanetOut Network published Saturday, January 1, 2005 Last week Egyptian demonstrators protesting the abuse of prisoners at an Iraqi prison, which has sparked international outrage in recent weeks, blamed the abuse on what they called "homosexual American executioners." The rally, held last Wednesday in Cairo, followed other protests throughout the Middle East over graphic photos depicting the abuse and torture of prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison at the hands of U.S. soldiers. Many of the abuses reported and depicted were sexual, including forcing nude male prisoners to pile on top of each other, and forcing them to simulate oral and anal sex with each other. Prisoners have also alleged being sodomized with broom handles and other objects. According to a report in the Kuwait Times, 300 Egyptian protestors rallied in front of a banner that read, "Bring to justice the homosexual American executioners, their agents the traitors, their followers the enemies." more: www.gay.com/news/article.html?2004/05/17/4

The problem is, no one, and I mean NO ONE, ever mentions what the Iraqis did to our prisoners during the first Gulf war. And other than a blurb or two, very little mention was made of what happened to that girl who got captured, then later rescued.

It basically says (and I buy it) that the str8 bigots use "homosexual" because that to them is the most "demeaning" thing they can think of, then WE get the label "torturers" because the str8 bigots used allegedly "gay" sex" to torture the prisoners... then... well you get the idea. It just sucks is all.

"Bye" <waving> "take care over there!" <more waving> "WE'LL take care of your wives!"

Where I work is kind of like this. The worst insult is still being called a f*g or... When I let everyone at work know about me, I think there was general panic. You know, gay rubbing off on straight. Hummm. Anyway, after receiving lots of stares and threats they finally realized I was still the same guy they knew the past 15 years. All this was 8 years ago. Unfortunately, some still automaticlly use gay terms as insults, mostly without thinking and sometimes around me which usually brings an immediate apology. So, I'm still one of the boys, but at a distance. Being an ice fisherman taught me one thing about persistence, the only way to break the ice is to keep chopping, ;D or drilling! It's been fun!!!

Compulsive, Yeah, makes sense, and, IMO it CAN be fun, I just do NOT like the whole, "no win scenario" I'm like ol' James T. that way That's all. Plus I've just had a <ahem> load dumpped in my lap of late and I'm just a tad "burned out" accomplishing the "impossible" is all. I mean, I'm GOOD at it. My former boss used to say the fastest, easiest way to get something accomplished was to tell ME it could NOT be done I'm stubborn that way I just need 1 or 2 months of "low expectations" is all Then I'll be good as new and once again ready willing and able to take it on. Stories like this 4 months ago I'd have been able to just "shrug off" now, they just "get" to me. It'll be better soon.

Kacer, I'm with you on burn out, and needing down time. I hope my tale of work didn't get you down, and I wish you the best. People at my job have finally realized I'm a person too and I have the same rights they do. So get your batteries recharged cause the battle isn't over. I've watched the African-Americans fight for respect and equality from the marches in the 60s to present day and they still fight for their rights. So I figure I can be just as stubborn and keep on being, right in the face of whoever doesn't like it. I can't figure out why our own want to be sheep like. Maybe the problem could be traced back to not having a good role model, I really don't know. Each to their own. Get well.

Maybe the problem could be traced back to not having a good role model, I really don't know. Each to their own. Get well. Compulsive, No, not at all. Most of what has me "down" some is just fairly "normal" (for me ) stuff... it is just that because I'm a bit "burned out" w/my "personal" life, that makes me more "hyper sensitive" to BS that occurs ... especially unjustified BS attacking an ENTIRE group. If someone were dissing African Americans, I'd be JUST as hyper sesitive about it right now, even though to the best of my knopwledge, I have no "blood relations" to any African American folk, I have several who I count as friends... and that sort of BS ALWAYS gets to me, but I can temper my reaction to it a tad better than I can right now. I do think I AM on the "upswing" though, just not FULLY on my "game" right now is all I also think that my messing around w/the dosage of Omega 3's I take was contributing, so I've resumed what IMO, I should be taking... frankly that MIGHT just be 90% of this.
