Ok folks.....if this doesn't get some posts going I don't know what will. ;D
To me the finest personnel defense caliber is.....yes you guessed it 45acp. And the only REAL semi auto pistol is the 1911....anything else is for sissies [and i know sissies] ;D

Oh, and don't forget my favorite: 357 Magnum. Good in a handgun, awesome in a 16 inch rifle barrel! Coug

Got to agree with both Stoner Student and Cougar.
My "always carry" is a 640-1 in .357 Mag. If I think I am going to need more that that in a handgun then I grab something in .45 ACP, either an M1911 clone or a Ruger KP90.
I like carrying the bigger handguns in .45 ACP, but I hate to wear suspenders all the time and I hate chasing my trousers and pulling them up all the time, so I actually carry the 640-1 most of the time, and it gets heavy and starts acting like a trousers anchor after a while, but I put up with it.

45LC, soft lead rounds. If I cannot stop them with 6 rounds I don't deserve to live anyway...

Stoner Student,
My luck it wouldn't distract anyone at all, and they would tangle me up when I needed to do some fancy stepping instead!
Stetson,
Nothing at all wrong with the .45 Colt. Its just more than actually needed in a more unhandy (hard to reload) revolver.
The final version used in the old Colts, the .45 Schofield, actually yielded a 230 gr. bullet at about 830 fps. Doesn't this combination sound strangely familiar, as in .45 ACP hardball specifications of a 230 gr. bullet at 830 FPS?
As far as deserving to die if you can't do it with 6 rounds, BS! That is what the New York reload is for! Just pull the second hawgleg!

Stoner Student,
Is there a special setting on the Uncle Mike's Kydex holsters to get just enough friction in the holster so that it holds in the holster until you drop your pants, then the pants and belt pull the holster cleanly off the handgun?

Delta 10mm pride symbol?
WTF?
Are you referring to the FBI's favorite non-caliber?

Yes, I'm talking about what would be correctly referred to as the 10mm Norma Automatic, with specific emphasis on Colt's take on the 10mm, the Delta Elite semiauto pistol based on the 1911 series.

That is not so bad, then, other than being over-powered and harder to control that it needs to be.
I was mostly talking about the famoun FBI NON-issue firearm, the 1076 (I think it was, 10 mm dao semi-auto).

I have handguns chambered for each of the four calibers we have mentioned here. Each gun has it's good qualities and I've given up trying to choose which is my favorite. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a bullet out of any of them. But......if I had to choose just one gun to keep out of my collection it would be......my S&W model 29 Classic 6 1/2" barrel 44 Magnum. When I first started shooting this gun I was really afraid of it but now it's blast and recoil doesn't bother me. Maybe I'll just have to try some of those heavy Buffalo Bore loads. Check out their site sometime! Buffalobore.com

Buckshot:
Meh, I don't think its any worse than a .357 Mag. I say if it shoots bullets and works well, it's good enough for me. Having it in stainless steel with black grips with a big red triangle on either side is pretty cool too. ;D
As for the S&W 1076, I never thought very highly of that thing. It was originally delivered with many mechanical defects that had to be fixed back at the factory. After that it worked fine, but I'd still rather have a Delta.
