I got my Mauser payed of for Christmas, this makes me happy. California waiting period laws make me mad. Also got a big bottle of Hoppe's #9.

Just make sure that bottle of Hoppe's is still full when you get the Mauser out of purgatory.
No sniffing it keeping your blood level of "gun feeling" up waiting on the Mauser!
Don't remember, did you get a sporter or a military mauser? Are you going to have a nice long session of cosmoline cleaning when you get it home?

It's a sporterized military smallring. Double-set trigger, 6.5x57mm, scope but no irons, pretty light weight. No cosmo to be found. It's my Mosin that I still haven't gotten all the cosmo out of.

Transonic,
That sounds like a very decent light sporter rifle!
How did you come up with 6.5 X 57? I know it was a standard Mauser cartridge, but as far as I know no one ever bught it for service and it only showed in sporters.
Someone had a reamer and was making these up?
Closest I have is 6.5 X 55 Swedish.

Yeah, it wasn't a service cartridge and it's not that popular in America, but apparently someone had this one custom chambered for it. The nice thing is it comes with dies so I can roll my own from 7x57mm brass. It also forces me to get a reloading setup. ;D

Transonic,
Sounds like you have the low-down on it and are ready to go with it.
One thing you might want to look at is using 8 X 57 brass instead of 7 X 57 brass, the 8 X 57 brass is much easier to find and cheaper than the 7 X 57 brass.
What setup are you looking at for reloading, the Lee Anniversary set or something else?
