Georgia Moves To Force Gay Students To Come Out To Parents Before Joining LGBT Clubsby The Associated Press Posted: March 19, 2005 12:01 am ET (Atlanta, Georgia) A proposal aimed at gay clubs would require high school students to get written parental permission before taking part in extracurricular activities. The rule before the state Board of Education was proposed by schools Superintendent Kathy Cox. It does NOT specifically target clubs for homosexual students. But it was requested by lawmakers who have tried for several years to squelch gay student support groups in Georgia high schools. If approved, the rule would require any student who wants to take part in any school-related club or after-school activity to get written permission from parents. MoreOkay, while I understand, in a TINY way this requirement, (very very TINY way) I think it is a HORRID concept and idea. However, as my mom only EVER ACTUALLY signed ONE "permission slip" once I was in HS... I made a photocopy then used that as a template to sign her name on the light table after that. NOT that she'd care, I mean she CARED, but she never DIDN'T sign a permission slip (prior to my "forgeries")and I'd NEVER remember to have her sign the d**n things... Granted I'd have to "practice" it for 5-10 minutes on a seperate sheet before I'd have the right "smooth look" that she had to her cursive handwriting/signature... still. And I'd always TELL he I forgot to give her the permission slip so I took care of it... I'd get a "look" but otherwise she was cool w/it
