Okay, my last thread idea fell flat - but the little gray cells seem to find spare time to turn over new ideas:
Would your favorite GLBT night club, restaurant, coffee shop be amenable to prominantly posting a new sign?
TEXT[shadow=red,left,300]TEXT[/shadow]GLBT folk and their friends in posession of current CCW permits are welcome here![shadow=red,left,300]TEXT[/shadow]TEXT
Why? I don't get the impression that as the pro-gun, pro self-defense demographic we're getting our refusal to be 'victims' across.
As a community we look for Pride stickers on the windows of businesses that note, 'Gay Friendly.'
Can we take it one step further (in full compliance with applicable restrictions on lawful concealed carry, obviously)? Can we actively solicit businesses to clearly post a welcome to those who taste and live the Rainbow - who also choose to be armed?
Where, and what would be your favorite establishment to see that posted?
Would it work to have copies of Remembering Our Dead (a compilation of those who've died by violence just because they were GLBT) as a way to start the conversation with the proprietor?
Thoughts?

I'd support the businesses that do this. I already look for one of those stickers over a place that doesnt have one

I don't think it would work for nightclubs and restraunts HERE (Ohio) why? well, the BUSINESS might "welcome" us, however, the LAW says that's a "no-no" :/ (If they serve alcohol OTHER than beer). But I like the idea Better, IMO, however, to approach them AFTER the next Pride Parade. (Here, anyway).

I'm a little worried. I'm not sure posting signs or stickers are effectively advancing our goal of being accepted, nor does this change the misplaced stereotype of a gay person. I've heard many people say "I don't care what someone's sexual preference is, I just don't like it being pushed in my face". How many times have any of you experienced some annoying person trying to convert you or the way you think at a time or place of inconvenience to you? Are we, the gay community, pushing our life style much like a religious fanatic will try to push their religion on others?

Kacer,
Where did this come from (the alcohol OTHER than beer?)
It has been explained time and angain in classes I have attended and/or helped with that the restriction is a Class D license that permits "Consumption on the Premesis". This specifically INCULDES things like beer gardens at the fair grounds.
