I can't believe this place still exists. No posts in over a year and a half, and yet it hasn't actually disappeared. I'm leaving this post mainly in the spirit of web-graffiti, since I doubt anyone who cares will ever actually read this. If any of you guys are still out there though, feel free to email me or something.

So uh, hey. Doesn't look like many people have been coming here as of late, and I'm late to posting, but I guess I'll give this introduction thing a shot. So... Hey, I'm Transonic!!! I'm a mostly-hetero-male and a transvestite-mostly-still-in-the-closet. Fresh out of high school, been shooting for at least six years and dressing like a girl for as long as I can remember. Being under 21, the gov't doesn't believe that I'm responsible enough to have a handgun but allows me (for now) to have shotguns and rifles. I signed up with the GwG forum when it first opened but I never posted anything then I forgot about it. Well, I guess I'm back and active now. I frequent a few other web forums under a very different psudonym. I actually like smaller forums like this. The fewer the people the higher the collective IQ, or so it seems to me, not that growth here would be a bad thing. So yeah, hey guys and gals!

I haven't seen the video (dialup connection ) though I've seen pictures of it and it's an interesting concept. The shape freaks me out a little, I do not find it aesthetically pleasing, but that's not important. Mainly I'd be a little scared to shoot it one handed (yes I know, bad idea in the first place but s*** happens and in a firefight you may not have both hands,) due to fear of loosing control of it. With a normal SMG, you know that if you do loose control, the spread will generally be upward. With the recoil going straight back and no other bracing, the muzzle could veer off in any direction if you lost control of it and that would be bad.

Thanks Stoner, I try. The first two times I tried I had to set the gun down 'cause I just couldn't hold the muzzle up at the target. The thing that frightens me is, that's one of the lighter .50's!
Stetson (I love your cologne by the way ;D) what model of Lee-Enfield do you have? I've been meaning to get a No.4 for a while now.

Thanks for the info, I'll take a look next time I have the Mosin out of the safe. Now that I think about it though, I do recall a marking amidst a bunch of nonsense on top of the chamber, something along the lines of 1943R. I think that's the date it says, but I'm not sure. I'll check later.
Speaking of big guns, I forgot to mention I got to shoot a .50 BMG for the first time last week!!! It was a Serbu BFG-50. I was aiming for the 100 yard gong and missed. Then again, I was shooting off-hand, standing. That is not a light-weight gun I tell ya. The other guy who was letting me shoot it hit the gong and knocked it five feet!!! We were using FMJ's and the gong was .75" thick at least so no hole was punched, but there was a crater and all the energy transferred into the metal and sent it and the stand it was hanging from flying. That definitely goes in the log as one of the cooler things I've shot. ;D

Nope, I just got the K31 and haven't gotten any ammo for it yet, so I haven't shot it at all. And no, it doesn't have anything like that with it. It just had "XII 37" stamped into the wood under the buttplate.
The only thing I know about my 91/30 is that it's a Tula factory rebuild that was brought in by Century.

Yup, I'm a rifle/shotgun shootist. Chinese SKS, Swiss K31, Mosin 91/30, Baikal SxS 12g, and my new Remmy 870 is on the way. Oh, and a few .22's.

Well, as insecure as I may or may not feel, we're not allowed to have .50 BMG's or AR-15's here in California anymore. As for there being more unique varriations and calibrations of the AR-15 upper assembly than there are parts in the entire gun, anybody for a beltfed .22lr upper?

Hmm, interesting idea, Cougar.
The Beowulf only takes a 4, 7, or 10 round magazine. Ammo costs about $1.00 per round. A complete gun from AA is $1,300-1,550 and an upper assembly costs $700-920. Just picking one load, it fires a .500", 334g HP with a muzzle velocity of 1900fps and a muzzle energy of 2676fp from a 16" barrel.
Well, for purposes of my own education I was going to compare this with a rifled-bore 1100 or 11-87 with extended mag tube and firing sabot slugs, but the Remington website seems to be down right now. The Beowulf obviously has an advantage in precision accuracy compared to a rifled, semiauto shotgun and may hold one or two rounds more at max. Detachable magazine is a plus also, but I'm interested in seeing the ballistics and prices compared between the two. The Beo' certainly does look like a fun shooter though.
Apples and oranges, man, apples and oranges.

That's pretty cool stoner. We've had that happen with stuff in my family, but never with guns. Probably 'cause we've never gotten rid of any. Well, sort of.
Anyway, I just remembered I keep a running list of all the guns I've ever fired. The fact that I can name them all off of memory tells me that I still need more experience:
Guns that I own: Ithaca M48 .22lr Martini-action carbine Ruger 10/22 basic carbine Western Field M830 (Ward's Mossberg M341) rifle in .22lr Norinco Type 56 Carbine (Chinese SKS) Tula VM-91/30 Mosin-Nagant rifle Uberti 1866 Yellowboy saddle carbine in .38 Special Remington 870 Tactical Magnum shotgun Baikal IZH-43 Bountyhunter II shotgun Orion 12g flaregun
Guns that I don't own: Ithaca M37 DS Police Special shotgun Smith & Wesson 3" M27 revolver Smith & Wesson 2" Lady-Smith Airweight DAO revolver Winchester M12 shotgun Winchester 1894 saddle carbine in .30-30 Ruger 10/22 basic carbine (1) Kimber Classic 1911A1 pistol Beretta M92FS pistol Colt Woodsman pistol Ruger 10/22 basic carbine (2) Ruger old-model Single-Six revolver in .22lr Glock G21 pistol Springfield Armory M1903A1 rifle Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle, with scope and folding buttstock Ruger Mini-14 rifle Cobray M-11/9 machinepistol Cobray 37mm flaregun Weatherby Mk.V, with scope, .300 Weatherby Magnum Marlin single-shot bolt action 16" .22lr (unknown model number) BSA single-shot bolt action 24" .22lr (unknown model number) Browning Buckmark pistol Ruger P-89 pistol Ruger Mk.II pistol Serbu BFG-50 rifle Dixie traditional patern precussion muzzle loading rifle (.50 cal) CAR-15 flattop carbine (unknown make) with front grip, laser, light, and aimpoint/trijicon scopes

I haven't used an M1 Carbine (yes, they are California legal and the AutoOrd version is on my wishlist) or Garand, but I have plinked around a little with an '03. The gun was fantastic, but the stripper clips I was using were horrible piles of fecal waste. I have a sporterized, scoped, wildcat (6.5x57mm) Mauser on layaway at the local shop, $280 left (plus the cost of loading equipment) before I get to do some loooooong distance shooting. ;D I own both a 91/30 and a K31, though the Mosin extracts like a b**** and I usually have to beat the crud out of it to get the bolt open something like every three shots, so I don't shoot it much. I haven't fired my Schmidt at all since no one carries ammo for it on shelf around here (seriously, wth is up with that?) and I don't have a credit card. I've never fired an Enfield (No.4 also being on my wish list), though I seem to have a collection of bayonets started. I own both the blade and last-ditch spike bayo's for the No.4.

I like that bARbie-15, I'd pick that gun up in a second (if I had any real money and didn't live in California. ) The pink and purple two-tone with the floral decor ballances out against the machismo of the gun itself in a kind of equilibrium. Unless you count the Mini-14, I've never used an M14 clone, and I haven't fired any of the other weapons you listed, just oogled over them in a few gunshops in Reno and Carson City. Come to think of it, I've never fired a .308 Win' at all. I have used a few far more powerful things though, and I did get to fire an evil, gray Cobray M11/9 once, that was pretty fun.

Oooooooow, I'm so happy! I got to use an AR-15 for the first time today!!! (Remember kids, I live in California where AR's are considered evil and are few and far between.)
I was at the range this afternoon/evening, just plinking some tin cans and a computer case. There was one other guy there who was zeroing in an Aimpoint on his M4gery. I was having ten million malf's with my 10/22 due to bad magazines and worse ammo. I quit shooting just as it was getting dark, and started talking guns with the other guy as he got done zeroing and started to plink the 75 and 100 yard gongs. After about fifteen minutes of conversation (plus me staring at that rifle for so long)... "Hey, you wanna shoot it?"
"What?"
"You wanna shoot th..."
"YES, PLEASE!" I've really been itching for the opportunity to shoot an AR for several months now. Anyway, 16.25" barrel, flattop upper, CT lasergrip front grip, some sort of light (not a Surefire, but plenty bright, it was already really dark and I could plainly see the 100yd gongs with it), plus the Aimpoint. We switched off with it for a while, then he changed the Aimpoint off for a Trijicon something-or-other illuminated scope. I probably put about 100-120 rounds through it. Oh I so can't wait to get my own AR!!! Oh I so can't wait to move out of California!!!
I think the point of this thread is [glow=red,2,300]I HATE CALIFORNIA!!![/glow]
