Kace,
Did you do the other mods yourself, or have them done?
Nice looking piece, all told.
What will it do at 200 & 300 yds?
We have not had an AK keep up at 200 or 300 yds. The SKS is not bad at 200 yds. but quickly craps out at 300 yds.
We don't have 600 yds. at the club and I don't know of anyone that has taken one of either type to Camp Perry for the 600 yd. but it seems like 7.62 X 39 is loosing it to the 5.56 X 45 somewhere between 200 & 300 Yds.

What kind of event is happening this weekend?
I got loose with an M16 with a Beta-C mag and a S&W M-76 the first weekend in May. Had a .303 Vickers there but it was just converted to .303 (from 11mm something) and he did not have the bugs out yet and it did not work well so I didn't mess with it.
Also had 2 M1918A3 BARs (semi-auto version) and 1 each M1919A4 and M1919A6 semi-auto Brownings. A4 is on a tripod and A6 with with bipod and buttstock.
Still fun.
Couple of weeks after that SurplusRifles.com had a shoot in Deifiance, but I did not hear about it till the night it was over with.

How many of you have purchased at least one M1 Garand from the CMP?
How many of you want to but have not gotten it done yet?
Why not?
No shooting esperience to report?
How many would participate if they had a qualifying event in their area?

Kacer,
Is the gray and white one on the left a cat or a rabbit?
Is that a concealment posture used to find lunch out in the garden?

SS,
The picture is not that bad.
How about some stats to go with it?
Some kind of sound supressor, dummy supressor or large flash hider?
Looks like that US folding stock that has been making the rounds?
Mag does look a little strange with seam or whatever along the front edge?
Looks like a custom rear sight on the receiver cover? Is this Krebs work? Awfully short sight radius. And if it is an arperture rear sight it is kind of far forward, isn't it?

How about I quit teasing you and talk about California legal stuff?
Have you got a chance to shoot an M1 Garand yet? M1 Carbine (I think they are California legal?)? How about an '03 or 03A3 Springfield or an M1917 Enfield?
Mausers, Mosin-Nagants, Schmidt-Rubins, Enfields?

Not to mention evil green rifles, evil brown rifles, and even evil pink Barbie rifles!
Then the 7.62 X 39 and 7.62 X 51 versions of the same. Have you ever experienced an AK series rifle or an FN-FAL, CETME/H&K or an M14 clone?

Bulldawg, Maybe you and I are not talking about the same thing. This was through www.yahoogroups.comThere was a mailing list, discussion board, listserver, however you chose to use it, thing for the AR180B. The guy that started it got one, had some trouble with it (one of the first batch released) pitched into getting it fixed and got on with shooting it. He got tired of the group, which only had 20 or so members, and the use of the list just died out. Yahoo has warnings posted when you start a group, no use for 90 days will put it on "probation" and 60 or 90 more idle and they will kill it. When he tried to pass the ownership to someone else on the list I was the only one that even answered in the negative! Everyone else had all ready bailed out. I guess this is NOT what you were talking about? Buckshot

Kace,
I don't think the $800.00 was for one of the AR180Bs, that was the value SS had on his Costs Mesa.
Last I read (I did not go check their web site) the MSRP of the AR180B was only something like $695.00. You should be able to get one to you (shipping) and pay the tax on it (sales tax) and any transfer fee and come out at $700.00 or you need to find another dealer!
I paid (right at the start of the AW Ban, so '94) $650.00 for my Howa used at a gun shop. That was OTD they either ate or paid or whatever, the sales tax. It had one factory mag with it, and 4 (semi) converted AR15 mags with it, plus a scope (no factory mount, they drilled and tapped 4 holes in the upper and mounted milled off Ironsighter scope rings, all now removed and holes filled with plug screws) and some sick looking reloads.
I don't think the AR180B will use the original AR180 mags, but they you don't want to mess with them anyway, they are 3X to 5X the price of AR15 mags! The AR180B lower fit for AR15 mags is one of the GREAT features of the B model.

SS,
You didn't cut down an original sporting barrel in that case! One of those would most likely have been 26", 28" or 30" and with some kind of fixed (full, modified) choke.
Does it have any US markings on it? US stamp and the flaming bomb ordnance stamp? They had a lot of them much like you described that they used in WW II to train gunners for bombers. Start them out on the ground on a trap field teaching them how to lead a moving target before they got into a moving acircraft to try to do the same thing.
Don't throw the Cutts Compensator away, you might list it on one of the auction sites just to see what you could sell it for if you don't want it. There is always some market for them for parts to fix up those with missing or damaged parts.

SS,
Before you cut your current one down, how long is the barrel?
There are a BUNCH of US GI M11 riot guns running around, and I think some spare barrels for them are still available.
Before you cut your long barreled one down, if that is the case, lets see if we can find you a short replacement barrel so you can save that long one, if that is what you have.

StonerStudent,
Just noticed your mix of caliber and gun.
I would guess that you are looking at the cheapest available relatively trustworthy ammo to shoot?
Otherwise it is a shame to see the X51 put through an X63 gun.
What is the A4, tripod version? I was always kind of partial to the A6, even though it is an ugly looking thing.
